Through special partnerships and agreements with school districts, students can enroll at UCCS while still in high school through Concurrent, ASCENT, and TREP enrollment opportunities.

Each pathway has unique admissions process, and school districts must first have agreements in place to sponsor students.

Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent Enrollment is an outstanding way for approved students to take eligible UCCS classes once approved by their school district.

Steps to enrollment:

  1. Get approval from your school district
  2. Apply with the Non-degree Student Application
  3. Send your high school transcript to ugapp@uccs.edu
  4. Make sure your school district is working with UCCS Student Financial Services for billing coordination.
  5. Class registration through your MyUCCS portal after you claim your UCCS account.

High School Dual Enrollment

High School students, often in their junior or senior year, will dual enroll with UCCS and take college classes while completing their high school coursework.  Financial aid is not available to assist with the costs of this enrollment path.  Student pays full UCCS tuition and fees.

Steps to enrollment:

  1. Complete and submit the Non-Degree Application
  2. Submit the Dual Enrollment Understanding
  3. Class registration through your MyUCCS portal after you claim your UCCS account.

ASCENT and TREP Enrollment

The State of Colorado’s ASCENT program allows approved students to participate in this program the year after 12th grade, to enroll in undergraduate courses and earn college credit at no tuition cost to them or their families. Additional costs, such as textbooks, fees, and transportation, are not required by the district to cover, though some do.

The State of Colorado also offers a Teacher Recruitment Education and Preparation (TREP) program was created by SB 21-185. The TREP program creates the opportunity for approved and qualified students in an educator/teacher career pathway to concurrently enroll in undergraduate courses and earn college credit at no tuition costs to them or their families, for up to two years after the 12th grade year.  Additional costs, such as textbooks, fees, and transportation, are not required by the district to cover, though some do.

Steps to enrollment:

  1. As ASCENT and TREP decisions are usually made in the spring, please follow all traditional Freshman admissions and financial aid timelines to ensure the most options for undergraduate enrollment.
  2. Apply as a Freshman student through the Common Application.
  3. Get school district approval that you will be sponsored as an ASCENT and/or TREP student.
  4. Make sure your school district is working with UCCS Student Financial Services for billing coordination.
  5. Class Registration through your MyUCCS portal after you claim your UCCS account.
